I didn’t get around to a November mix – for this you have my utmost apologies, but in my defence I was busy with other things. As a way of making up for the lack of a mix last month I present an extra long mix including tracks from all of my top 10 12″ singles from 2008, the order of which will be revealed on Monday 22nd December. As well as these the mix includes a few of my absolute favourite remixes from the year gone by, and one album track from my Top 10 albums of 2008 (which is why I have included Outta Sight, though it’s single release was last year). I would have just called it the “Essential Mix” of 2008, but I didn’t to risk Pete Tong or Radio 1 getting annoyed with me.

It’s a mix that makes its way from balearic disco pop through piano house and pulsing techno, recognising great production, catchy melodies, nods to the past and originality. As my track selection was dictated by my list, it’s not the most perfect mix I’ve ever made, but it is balls to the wall dance music from start to finish. And I didn’t realise until I’d made the mix just how many of the tracks would include pianos in some form or another.
