The end of an era…
…but the beginning of a new one.
It’s been 17 months of blogging, but I only got myself on the Hype Machine two and a half months ago. Now I have what I can call a regular readership, it’s time to say thanks for all the comments and messages of support I get, they don’t go unnoticed. I started the blog primarily because I wanted to do something that was well written, and if at least a handful of people coming here think the written content is worth their time, then I feel like I’ve succeeded. I would rather have one reader a day who comes away from here feeling like they have read something of substance rather than 1000 hit and runners who come here to download the latest banger. We’ve all done it, but most of the time that’s because there’s nothing worth reading there in the first place.
Urlaubshits will be dark for a week or so, during which time I will be rolling out the new and improved Urlaubshits 2.0 (only coincidentally happening at the same time as Hipster Runoff 2.0). The layout will change, and content will become a little more structured, more of which will be explained when it goes live. As soon as the location and time is ready to be revealed, it will be done here.
One major change will be mixes that will be posted at least monthly. As a taste of things to come, I present “Urlaubshits Vol. 3″, a fitting way to wrap up the trilogy before I begin a new numbering system with the monthly mixes. It features a mix of old and new, along with an exclusive preview of the incredible King of Town’s remix of They Came From The Stars I Saw Them’s “Moon Song”. I know little of King of Town other than that he is from South Africa, and that he has a very bright future from the sound of this remix. Once again Thisisnotanexit prove their credentials for finding the very best talent you’ve never heard of. Moon Song will be released soon, on two discs, and also has remixes by Holy Ghost!, Mungolian Jet Set, Serge Santiago and Detachments. I’ve heard them, and they are all awesome. As well as this there is a new Naum Gabo track on the mix, “Spessivtseva”, released on highly limited vinyl (only 200 copies) by Dissident recently.

Entry is free, and drinks are cheap, it runs from 7-2, I’ll be on at half past midnight. Facebook event thing here.
